Privacy policy
Effective 5 July 2026 · Applies to the Early app (app.early.mobile)
The short version: Early has no accounts, no ads, no analytics trackers, and sells nothing about you. Your alarms, settings and wake stats live on your device and nowhere else. The only data that ever leaves your phone is a crash report if the app crashes, and the purchase information your app store needs to process a Premium purchase.
Who we are
Early is developed by Amir Jan Torkamani, an independent developer based in Stockholm, Sweden. For anything in this policy, contact jan.torkamani.dev@gmail.com.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in Early is stored locally on your phone: alarms and their schedules, wake-up task settings, registered QR codes, photos and NFC tags used for dismiss tasks, timer and Pomodoro presets, stopwatch laps, wake stats and streaks, and appearance preferences. None of it is uploaded, synced or backed up by us. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
What leaves your device
- Crash reports. If Early crashes, a report is sent to Sentry (a crash-reporting service by Functional Software, Inc.) so the bug can be fixed. A report contains the technical crash trace and basic device information such as model and OS version. It does not contain your name, email, alarms or any content you created. Reports are sent only when a crash occurs.
- Purchases. Premium purchases are processed by your app store (Google Play). Early uses RevenueCat to validate purchases; RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-generated identifier and the store's purchase tokens. We never see your name, address or payment details.
- Radio streaming. If you wake to a live radio station, your device connects directly to that station's stream, which — like any web connection — exposes your IP address to the station's server.
Permissions and why Early asks for them
- Notifications, exact alarms and full-screen intent — to ring at the time you set, including over the lock screen.
- Camera — only for the QR scan and Photo match wake-up tasks. Images are processed on the device and never leave it.
- NFC — only to read the tag you registered for the NFC wake-up task.
- Physical activity — only to count steps for the Steps wake-up task, on the device.
- Music and audio files — only to let you pick tracks from your phone as alarm sounds.
- Internet — for radio streams, purchase validation and crash reports. Nothing else.
Every permission is optional: Early only requests one when you enable the feature that needs it, and the rest of the app works without it.
What we don't do
- No user accounts and no sign-in.
- No advertising and no ad networks.
- No behavioural analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No selling, renting or sharing of personal data.
Your rights and choices
Because your data lives on your device, you are in control of it: uninstalling Early removes everything it stored. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your app store settings. If you are in the EU/EEA, you have rights under the GDPR (access, correction, deletion, objection); since we hold almost nothing about you, the practical route for any request or question is to email jan.torkamani.dev@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Sweden, IMY).
Children
Early is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone — children included.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with an updated effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
